Veteran health information technology vendors Kronos Healthcare and MiraMed Global Services have augmented their product and services lines via acquisitions.

MiraMed has bought Plexus Management Group, a consulting and business process outsource vendor serving hospitals, delivery systems and physician practices. Outsourced functions cover patient services such as scheduling, registration and insurance verification, along with a range of billing and reimbursement functions.

MiraMed also acquired the Plexus Information Systems subsidiary, which sells Anesthesia Touch, a complete anesthesia information management system for iPads and workstations. MiraMed will team the technology with its anesthesia business consulting arm and with its ABC’s F1RSTAnaltytics software. Terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed.

Workforce management software vendor Kronos added to its healthcare division with the acquisition of Chicago-based Productive Scheduling Solutions. The company sells the EZCall suite of software to optimize scheduling of physicians in a group practice, hospitalists and resident physicians.

Specialties using EZCall, which supports iOS and Android devices, include anesthesiology, cardiology, radiology, pain management, intensivists, orthopedics and hospitalists, according to the company. Kronos saw Productive Scheduling Solutions as an acquisition target because independent physicians increasingly are entering employment relationships with hospitals or delivery systems. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Kronos’ healthcare suite includes time and attendance, scheduling, absence management, human resources, payroll, hiring and labor analytics software.
