Humana picks Inovalon platform in push to improve outcomes

In other implementations, Jasper General Hospital will transition to CPSI EHR from legacy system.

Humana has entered into a multi-year contract to use ONE Platform from Inovalon to support a data-driven strategy to improve outcomes and economics.

The payer will implement a broad set of modules that include data integration, connectivity, visualization, advanced analytics and intervention support.

The goal is to prospectively identify and predict patient gaps and improve insights into disease diagnosis, progression, documentation and accuracy. Serving employer groups, the platform is expected to facilitate member encounters in physician offices and retail pharmacies.

Here are other health IT contract wins and go-lives reported this week:
  • Jasper General Hospital, with 16 beds in Bay Springs, Miss., is scrapping a legacy electronic health record system that did not meet expected financial requirements and has selected the Evident EHR from CPSI. “One thing that was very attractive to us is that we were already using the CPSI post-acute care software in our nursing home, which is why we felt like CPSI was the best choice,” says Eric Jordan, CEO.

  • Health Quest Systems, with four hospitals serving the New York Hudson Valley and parts of Connecticut, will use artificial intelligence from IBM Watson Health to increase participation in clinical trials. Watson’s technology will match patients to clinical trials for which they may be eligible across the hospitals. The goal is to eliminate manual comparing of enrollment criteria with patient medical data to efficiently identify potential trial options.
  • Beacon Health Options and Empower Healthcare Solutions, a provider-led shared services entity, will use a value-based care platform from Evolent Health to serve high-need Medicaid enrollees in Arkansas with behavioral health and developmental disabilities. The vendor will provide a range of services including claims processing, provider data management, member and provider portals, analytics, utilization management and data services.
  • Electronic health record vendor Meditech recently signed contracts with several community hospitals in Massachusetts—Holyoke Medical Center, Harrington Healthcare and Heywood Healthcare. All three organizations are getting Meditech’s next-generation Expanse EHR. Nearby Berkshire Health Systems also will adopt Expanse along with ambulatory and acute care software across its 225 physician practices.
