U. of Kansas Hospital picks Cerner for pop health outreach

Intermountain selects Ayasdi to assess variations in clinical treatments, says CDO Lee Pierce.

HDM’s regular roundup of new technology contracts and deployments include a population health management platform for rural Kansas communities and new analytics applications for Intermountain Healthcare in Utah.

* The University of Kansas Hospital has selected Cerner as its population health management vendor to reach out to rural communities, with a particular focus on supporting the Kansas Heart and Stroke Collaborative, a care delivery and payment model. A three-year grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services helps fund the collaborative. The university will use Cerner’s HealtheCare software to identify and prioritize individuals to be assigned to care managers.

* Intermountain Healthcare has bought analytics software from Ayasdi to assess variations in clinical treatments. The software draws on clinical data from various information systems. The software will support the organization’s mission of helping people live the healthiest lives possible, says Lee Pierce, chief data officer at Intermountain.

* Beaumont Health in metro Detroit will implement patient access and referral management software from Kyruus to support an online physician finding and referral services call center. The delivery system was created by the merger of Beaumont Health System, Botsford Hospital and Oakwood Healthcare.

* The Oklahoma Department of Health and Human Services is implementing health information exchange and data aggregation tools from Orion Health to support population health initiatives under the Precision Medicine Initiative. The tools include an integration engine, clinical portal, enterprise master patient index and a connection to the national eHealth Exchange.

* Munson Health, serving northern Michigan, has chosen a suite of financial management software from Kaufman Hall. The modules cover budgeting, capital planning, long-range planning and reporting across the network. Serving 24 counties, Munson Healthcare’s flagship hospital is 391-bed Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. The organization also has eight rural hospitals, a network of outpatient and rehabilitation facilities, and home-based medical services.
