Four more health information technology vendors have announced acquisitions, bringing the total during the first 12 days of 2012 to at least 10 deals.

Payer vendor The TriZetto Group has acquired Kocsis Consulting Group of Hudsonville, Mich., for an undisclosed sum. Kocsis offers training, compliance and change management software to bridge the gap between implementing new information systems and using them to their potential. Software modules cover user training, business/change readiness, process improvements, policy and procedure documentation, and compliance readiness such as HIPAA 5010 and ICD-10.

Ascend Learnings, a vendor of educational software for health care and other industries, has boosted its health market share by acquiring Advanced Informatics of Minneapolis. Advanced Informatics sells software to help health care education firms manage their programs via class schedules, evaluations, measuring outcomes and delivering coursework, among other functions. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

SAI Global, an international firm based in New Jersey that provides standards and regulatory compliance and ethics training to multiple industries, has bought Atlanta-based Compliance 360. Terms were not disclosed. Compliance 360 hosts software to manage financial controls, internal audit processes and other compliance obligations for health care, insurance and financial services companies.

Medical billing firm MedData Inc. in Brecksville, Ohio, has acquired MedDirect Inc. of Grand Rapids, which offers physician billing services and  patient communication software. The software enables physician practices to contact patients via email, text or automated phone calls to collect payments, confirm appointments and give medication reminders. MedData serves more than 2,000 physicians at 175 sites in 35 states.

Other acquisitions announced in January include government contractor ManTech International buying fellow contractor Evolvent Technologies, Mediware buying stem cell transplantation software vendor Transtem, Yardi Systems picking up long-term care vendor ALMSA Corp., TriZetto Group acquiring encounters processor Medical Data Express, ED vendor T-System Inc. buying billing firm Practice Management Associates, and QuadraMed adding NCR’s self-service patient kiosk business.
