Stanley Healthcare Solutions, a division of Stanley Black & Decker, has acquired AeroScout, a vendor of real-time location systems for health care and industrial customers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The deal augments Stanley’s product suite, which includes storage and supply chain software. The company has diversified into health care in recent years and sells portable emergency call buttons, carts and cabinets, abduction prevention applications, and patient wander, fall and bed turn management software. Stanley Healthcare Solutions serves more than 15,000 health care organizations.

AeroScout says more than 800 organizations in various industries use its tracking software. AeroScout’s health care portfolio includes tracking systems for patients, clinicians and equipment. It also provides monitoring and safety applications.

The deal follows a late 2010 acquisition by Stanley of InfoLogix, which sold RFID-enabled asset tracking systems, bar-coded medication management systems and mobile nurse carts.

“The addition of AeroScout enhances Stanley’s health care, industrial and security solutions and represents a significant step forward on our path to become the leading provider of integrated healthcare solutions,” said Bert Davis, president of Stanley Healthcare Solutions.
