Revenue cycle management vendor and claims clearinghouse operator Emdeon Inc. has a new service for retail pharmacies.
The Emdeon Commercial MedRx service enables pharmacies to electronically submit claims to medical insurers for covered products such as crutches, syringes and immunizations. Pharmacies are highly automated with their transactions between pharmacy benefit insurers, but often must manually submit claims for items covered under medical insurance.
Nashville, Tenn.-based Emdeon's new service combines its clearinghouse operations with durable medical equipment and other medical claims processing from eRx Network LLC, which it acquired a year ago. Fort Worth, Texas-based eRx Network also sells pharmacy information systems for independent and chain retail pharmacies.
