Krames StayWell, a vendor serving providers with on-demand patient education materials, will support the Direct Project, a federally funded initiative that produced free, downloadable secure e-mail software for exchanging clinical information.

Support for the project will enable providers to securely transmit literature covering more than 3,300 topics, as well as 2,000 medication information sheets, to patient e-mail accounts. Krames also will collaborate with Microsoft HealthVault to enable educational literature to be stored in and accessible from a patient's HealthVault personal health records account.

Version 5 of Krames' on-demand software has received meaningful use certification as an electronic health records module from the Certification Commission on Health Information Technology.
