The Online Care physician-patient consultation software of Boston-based American Well now enables patients to submit data from home patient monitoring devices to a secure Web platform, and for authorized clinicians and other health professionals to access the information.

The vendor is using the Numera|NET telehealth software of Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Numera, formerly iMetrikus. Data that patients can share includes vital signs and readings from glucose meters, blood pressure cuffs, peak flow meters, pedometers, weight scales and other monitoring devices.

Numera|NET is a Web platform that enables a consumer to upload biometric data via a PC, smartphone, tablet or laptop, or with the vendor's MetrikLink home-based connectivity device that integrates with the medical devices. Health professionals then can access the data to import into electronic health records, disease management, and predictive modeling applications, among others.
