The New York eHealth Collaborative, a public-private partnership, has issued a request for proposals for building an initial phase of the Statewide Health Information Network for New York.

The HITECH Act-funded HIE will support the federally funded Direct Project proposals for secure electronic transmission of protected health information via the Internet. Letters of intent are due on Oct. 11 with proposals expected by Oct. 21, and an award announced in early December.

More than $100 million in state and federal funds have been allocated for the HIE to serve 19 million patients. More information on the RFP is available here.
