Insurer Aetna Inc. has promoted Michael Mathias from chief technology officer to chief information officer. He succeeds and reports to Meg McCarthy, who recently was named executive vice president.
Mathias joined Aetna in 1993 as a systems engineering manager. He became CTO in 2008 and is especially strong on database, middleware and Web technologies.
He previously served at UBS/PaineWebber, Verizon, Educational Testing Service, Macmillan Publishing and Prudential Insurance.
