Mobile application developer Medl Mobile, Fountain Valley, Calif., has been retained to create a native mobile experience for the My GI Health patient-provider portal. My GI Health is a collaboration between academic research institutions at UCLA and the University of Michigan, researchers, educators, physicians, pharmaceutical companies, and food and beverage companies.

The portal provides clinicians with a comprehensive assessment and history of a patient's gastrointestinal symptoms, detailed data on symptoms over time, and an educational prescription for each patient tailored to their specific needs, all accessible from the electronic health record console. My GI Health condenses the patient's responses into reports for both the patient and provider.

Additionally, My GI Health provides the clinician with a history using clinically relevant nomenclature that can be incorporated directly into the patient's electronic medical record. A provider is able to review both the patient's GI symptom scores and history to understand the patient's complaints before they enter the exam room, leaving more time for interaction and conversation with the patient.

The team from Medl will work alongside the team from My GI Health to create an iOS7 optimized experience that enhances the existing platform with native iPhone and iPad functionality.
