The acquisition is part of McKesson’s new Better Health 2020 strategy, which calls for the company to invest $1 billion in I.T. to develop products to improve its clients’ patient safety and clinical/financial outcomes and enable them to better coordinate care in an environment of increased risk and bundled payments.
Core pieces of the strategy include significant investment in the Paragon clinical/financial hospital information as the “go-forward” product for hospitals of all sizes, and phasing out the Horizon Enterprise Revenue Management product.
