3M Health Information Systems announced at HIMSS14 that it will acquire data analytics vendor Treo Solutions for an undisclosed sum.

Troy, NY-based Treo serves about 60 health insurers and several states in using analytics to redesign payment structures and transition payers and providers to value-based treatment/payment models. Consequently, the vendor, which also offers advisory services, has a sizable trove of claims data and expertise in analyzing it.

St. Paul, Minn.-based 3M Health is strong in clinical data collected by users of its 360 Encompass System for computer-assisted coding. Combing the clinical and claims data and offering assistance in analyzing the data will help providers jump start their transition to population health management, according to 3M.
