Medication Management Systems Inc., a provider of medication therapy management services, and the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists Foundation, have jointly developed new technology that combines their software.

The goal of the new integrated documentation application is to more effectively manage drug therapies. Plymouth, Minn.-based MMS' contributed The Assurance System suite of clinical decision support, analysis/reporting, therapeutic medication record and claims submission applications.

The ASCP Foundation contributed its Monitor-Rx software that identifies medications that may cause or contribute to common geriatric problems and provides medication-monitoring recommendations.

The new product, Assurance System Plus Monitor-Rx, offers tools to identify potential medication-related problems, track encounters and outcomes, maintain regulatory compliance, manage claims for payment of pharmacist services, and enable outcomes and economic analysis, according to the organizations.
