Eligible professionals and hospitals hoping to soon attest to electronic health records meaningful use in 2013 have a little more time to prepare.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has extended the deadline for EP attestation from 11:59 pm EST on Febuary 28 to the same time at March 31.

CMS also is offering assistance to hopsitals having difficulty submitting their attestations, enabling them to submit retroactively and avoid the 2015 payment adjustment. Hospitals must contact CMS, at EH2013Extension@Provider-Resources.com, by March 15 for assistance in submitting retroactively.

The extensions do not cover the Medicaid meaningful use program or the Physicain Quality Reporting Systems EHR Incentive Program pilot.
