Computer Sciences Corp. will acquire Australia-based iSOFT Group Limited, a financially troubled global health information technology vendor serving 13,000 provider organizations in 40 nations.
Falls Church, Va.-based CSC will pay A$0.17 a share for iSOFT and is not disclosing the total price, but Reuters pegs it at about $188 million. The companies have been partners as iSOFT, which sells information systems to hospitals and physicians, is a subcontractor to CSC in England providing technology to hospitals in the National Health Service.
The acquisition of iSOFT will bring CSC 3,300 employees, 8,000 hospitals and clinics, and major development centers in Australia, India, New Zealand, Spain and the United Kingdom.
