Columbia, S.C.-based Companion Data Services will provide data processing and hosting services for the National Level Repository, which will track Medicare/Medicaid incentive payments for meaningful use of electronic health records.

The one-year contract from the centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, with four one-year renewals, is worth $24 million if all options are exercised.

Under a separate contract, Companion Data Services is a subcontractor to Northrop Grumman Corp., which was selected in May to design and develop the repository. Companion will provide application development consulting services. Grumman's contract is worth $34 million in the first year with options for up to five-and-one-half additional years.
