Colorado HIE Usage More Than Doubles in 2014

CORHIO, the Colorado Regional Health Information Organization, has announced the number of participating healthcare users and data available in the network grew by 111 percent and 118 percent respectively in 2014.

This marks the third consecutive year of triple-digit growth rates for the Colorado health information exchange organization.

"The growth of our health information exchange network is a testament to the strong leadership shown by healthcare organizations and providers across the state of Colorado," said Morgan Honea, chief executive officer at CORHIO. “Together with our partners and participants, we are building an advanced health information technology infrastructure that will enable one of the most integrated, efficient and effective healthcare systems in the country.”

From 2013 to 2014, CORHIO said the number of active users and providers accessing the HIE grew from 2,707 to 5,705, the number of connected hospitals grew from 31 to 47, and the number of clinical messages grew from 102.4 million to 223.6 million.
