The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has issued a proposed rule to make many corrections to a rule published on May 10 to set the hospital inpatient prospective payment system and long-term care hospital prospective payment system for fiscal year 2014.

The corrections cover multiple typographical errors and inadvertent technical and formatting errors in tables, as well as incorrect hyperlinks to additional information, such as a readmissions report.

Other errors being fixed are more substantial, such as timeframes for submitting information, and changing the meaning of sentences (“chart-abstracted information for the full 4 ½ months following the last discharge date in a calendar quarter” is changed to “chart-abstracted information for the full 4 ½ months following the end of a calendar quarter”).

All total, at least 75 corrections are proposed in the rule, being published on June 27 but available here now.
