Berkshire Health Systems in Pittsfield, Mass., will implement electronic health records and practice management software for its 108 employed physicians in 18 practices, and make the software available to more than 300 independent affiliated physicians.
The two-hospital delivery system has licensed the applications from Chicago-based Allscripts. It will replace existing practice management and EHR systems that the owned practices use, and will remotely host and manage the applications for community physicians. A Berkshire spokesperson did not respond to a request for additional information, including whether the organization will subsidize the cost of the software under Stark Act and federal safe harbor exemptions.
