Fitbit has rolled out an enterprisewide platform for health insurers, employers and healthcare delivery systems.

Called Fitbit Care, the product combines health coaching and virtual care via a new Fitbit Plus app.

The platform supports wearable devices, self-tracking and personalized interventions to improve wellness, disease management and prevention, along with the behavior change principles of Twine Health, which the company bought earlier this year.

The goal is to improve team care collaboration and outcomes. Humana already has adopted Fitbit Care as a coaching solution for its employer groups.

“With the introduction of Fitbit Care, we continue to expand our healthcare offerings with a new, bundled subscription offering that can help improve outcomes for some of the most common and costly conditions in healthcare,” says Adam Pellegrini, general manager at Fitbit Health Solutions.

The platform includes a variety of devices and software to help users understand their overall health and achieve their goals, and users can provide data to their clinicians to aid in developing more personalized recommendations and care.

Social support tools that include challenges enable guided workouts for private groups. Health coaching now also is available to enterprise clients, with coaches that work with care teams to create and meet personalized care plans.

Coaches, individuals and care teams stay in touch via in-app communications, phone and in-person meetings to achieve goals and Fitbit Plus supports third-party connected devices.

Users have access to health metrics such as blood glucose, blood pressure and medication adherence data, enabling them to see health data in one place and better understand trends over time, according to the vendor.
