Organizations in 2019 will be looking to hire a range of IT professionals, with skills related to data management among the most sought-after.

According to the 2019 Robert Half Technology Salary Guide, the talent shortage continues to be a challenge for many organizations. The executive staffing firm noted in the report that more than half of IT departments in North America are understaffed.

Among the most in-demand technology roles are business intelligence analysts, cloud architects, cloud systems engineers, data scientists, database and other developers, DevOps engineers, Internet of Things (IoT) specialists, cyber security professionals and systems administrators.

The most desired skills include artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud, Hadoop, Java, JavaScript, machine learning, Microsoft SQL Server, Ruby on Rails and virtualization.

At the same time, the firm said, shifts such as this are creating challenges for technology leaders, including increased project volume and a critical shortage of technology workers to address it.
