What Data and Business Intelligence Professionals Earn

In 2012, an article in the Harvard Business Review called data scientists “the sexiest job of the 21st Century.” Kicking off 2016, job search firm Glassdoor called it “the number one job in America.” With laurels such as those, data professionals should be sitting pretty when it comes to a fat paycheck. Or are they? Researchers John King and Roger Magoulas of O’Reilly Media recently presented their findings on what data professionals earn as we closed out 2015, in the Data Science Salary Survey. The following are salaries you can expect to draw, or pay out, for working with data analytics and business intelligence.

Upper Management

Salary range = $110,000 to $180,000

Median salary = $150,000

Salary range = $100,000 to $149,000

Data Engineer

Salary range = $75,000 to $135,000

Data Scientist

Salary range = $75,000 to $127,000
