ONC data shows companies with the most eligible professionals as customers
The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology annually gathers data on which vendors have certified technology used by providers that are participating in the Medicare EHR Incentive Program. This list, released this summer, looks at ambulatory providers and technology reported in 2016. As of August 2017, 684 vendors supply certified health IT to 354,395 ambulatory primary care physicians, medical and surgical specialists, podiatrists, optometrists, dentists, and chiropractors participating in the Medicare EHR Incentive Program. Last year, ONC reported 337,432 physicians using certified EHR products.
This list compares ONC's recently released data on MU attestations for 2016 with the information that it released in 2016 for the previous year's MU totals.
ONC data is for health IT certified either according to criteria specified for 2015 edition of Health Information Technology Certification, or for HIT certified under the 2014 or 2011 edition of criteria. Applications certified under any of those year's criteria can be used to attest to meaningful use.
