First Forays into Mobility

It was said of Jobs that he designed technology that he wanted to use, and others didn't know they needed. Apple was, along with Palm, one of the early innovators in the mobile technology market with the Apple Graphic Tablet and the Newton (shown above). Both Apple products were marketed heavily to physicians, but the first-gen devices were considered too bulky for everyday use and lacked easy-to-use data input and transfer features. However, they were on to something--the devices were designed to replicate the experience of using paper charts.
