Enhancements to Florida’s breach notification law became effective in June, putting in place new requirements and in some areas tougher provisions. “The new law sets up one of the most robust data protection regimes in the United States and is relevant to any business that collects personal information nationwide,” according to an analysis of changes from the law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. The breach covers a variety of industries, including healthcare, and also covers businesses outside the state that collect personal information about Florida residents.
