New York-based WebMD Health Corp. has acquired Avado Inc., a Seattle-based startup company that has developed patient relationship management software.

Terms of the acquisition, under which Avado leadership will continue to operate out of Seattle, were not disclosed. Co-founder and CEO Dave Chase previously founded Microsoft’s health care business.

Avado’s product enables providers to target personalized online delivery of education content to patients, and to track treatment adherence and healthy changes in behavioral lifestyle, according to the vendor.

The acquisition will expand WebMD’s connectivity products. Physicians already use the company’s Medscape mobile app to securely send educational materials and instructions to patients.
