A free, one-hour Web seminar on May 19 will dive into the CORE operating rules for HIPAA transactions, being mandated under the Affordable Care Act for implementation between 2013 and 2016.

CORE is the Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange initiative within CAQH, an alliance of payers and trade associations. Industry stakeholders are cooperating to develop operating rules to tighten the HIPAA standards for claims and related administrative/financial transactions to make the transactions more uniform among providers, payers and vendors.

CAQH will host the seminar with Edifecs, a CORE testing vendor. The seminar will feature a review of the operating rules and the phased rules development process, a presentation from UnitedHealth Group-- which is the first health care organization to certify CORE compliance in the HIPAA 5010 transaction sets format--and a live Edifecs demonstration of the 5010 testing platform.
