Virginia HIE Adopts Direct Project Messaging

ConnectVirginia, the state health information exchange, now offers secure clinical messaging using the national Direct Project protocols.

The service, called DIRECT Messaging, is a “push” messaging system where information is sent from one registered provider directly to another registered provider known to the sender, according to the HIE.

The service is free until April 1, 2013, then $180 a year. More information is available at connectvirginia.org/direct-messaging.
