Telecommunications vendor Verizon Business has launched a health care information security consulting service.

The Basking Ridge, N.J.-based firm has announced its Data Discovery, Identification and Security Classification suite of services, called DDISC. The services provided by the company's I.T. security consultants include discovery of the types of data in an organization and where it resides, reviewing data for relevance and sensitivity to determine its importance to an organization, assessing where data is transmitted and stored, and recommendations on additional security measures.

The service is being marketed to hospitals, delivery systems, insurers and business associates, among others. More information is available at verizonbusiness.com.
