Wayne, Pa.-based MEDecison for several years has offered the Patient Clinical Summary. It is software that enables insurers to send back to physicians a basic medical history--based on claims data--when responding to electronic insurance eligibility inquiries. But insurers have found it challenging to get physicians to accept the information.

Now, Cambridge, Mass.-based NaviNet will be able to deliver a clinical summary from participating health plans to its network of providers along with eligibility verification responses. The combined service can help insurers and providers increase efficiencies while controlling costs and improving care coordination and quality, according to the vendors.
