ID Experts, a data breach prevention and remediation firm, has partnered with consultancy Apgar & Associates to offer mock federal HIPAA privacy/security/compliance audits to health care organizations.

The new service comes as the HHS Office for Civil Rights, through contractor KPMG, is ramping up random compliance reviews with 150 expected during 2012 before becoming more widespread in subsequent years. KPMG knows health care data breaches first-hand as the company has two entries on OCR’s public Web site listing incidents affecting 500 or more individuals.

Other services in the ID Experts/Apgar partnership include risk analyses, breach investigations, training, compliance planning and assessment, contracted privacy and security officer support, breach preparedness and prevention, and breach response services including forensic investigation, incident risk assessment, patient notification, monitoring and recovery.
