Vendor Targets Docs for Online Consultations

Online physician-patient consultation software vendor American Well has a new product line that targets physician practices.

The Boston-based vendor has focused on contracting with health insurers and employers wishing to offer online consultations as part of benefit packages. Now, physicians also can offer their patients online consultations via live video using Web cams, or via secure text messaging or the telephone.

Physician practices will set their fees and may offer on-demand and/or scheduled consultations. The consultation application, called Online Care, captures information during an encounter that can be imported into electronic health records systems. More information is at onlinecareforproviders.com.
