STANLEY Healthcare, a provider of visibility solutions and analytics, and health information technology provider InterSystems are integrating key applications, which is expected to enhance patients’ experience and increase efficiency with more Internet of Things applications.
The tools enabled by the integration will give hospitals more information from time and location data provided by real-time location systems, to be used to optimize patient flow and staff workflow. EMR-to-RTLS integration will also streamline processes, eliminate dual data entry, and reduce human error through automation, the companies say.
Millions of patients already served by InterSystems will now have automatic admission, update and discharge information on patients in STANLEY’s AeroScout solution. RTLS badges will be automatically assigned to patients when they check in at a care provider, simplifying the process while ensuring that the RTLS system has accurate patient information.
Similarly, integration between the AeroScout solution and the hospital’s LDAP system allows for automatic updating of staff information from the lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) systems within AeroScout. Hospitals can maintain an accurate list of staff members within AeroScout for such applications as patient flow, staff workflow, staff assist and hand hygiene compliance monitoring.
“We have several customers who use the integration systems for one things or another, including being deployed for our patient flow solution,” says Steve Elder, senior marketing manager for STANLEY Healthcare. “In terms of improvement, both of the companies move with the industry. We respond to what the market base is saying to us.”
“The Internet of things is not just about connecting devices, but also people, organizations, and communities,” says Joe DeSantis, the vice president of HealthShare Platforms for InterSystems.
