Vendor Buys Boost Mediware’s Numbers

Acquisitions helped ancillary hospital software vendor Mediware Information Systems Inc. record strong financial performance in fiscal 2010, which ended on June 30.

The Lenexa, Kan.-based company sells medication, blood bank management and home health software. During the year, it bought Knowledge-Forge, which offers online compliance training courses; Healthcare Automation Inc., which sells home health management software; and Advantage Reimbursement Inc., which provides home health billing services for infusion, pharmacy, medical equipment and other needs.

Fourth quarter net income at Mediware rose 66 percent to $949,000 as revenue increased 25 percent to $13.25 million. For all of fiscal 2010, net income more than doubled to $3.24 million as revenue grew 17 percent to $47.6 million.
