In other implementations, Barnes-Kasson County Hospital expands its use of CPSI tools.

Here is Health Data Management’s weekly roundup of new health IT contract wins and go-lives.

* TriWest Healthcare Alliance, which supports a network of 200,000 providers serving the healthcare needs of military veterans in 28 states, has selected and is implementing the provider engagement portal of Availity. The vendor’s portal is among the most widely-used in the industry, says David McIntyre, Jr., President and CEO at TriWest. The portal facilitates seamless electronic exchange of information between providers and third-party administrators. The portal is designed to help providers complete clinical and administrative transactions, electronically submit and edit claims and attachments, and validate demographic information in accordance with TriWest business rules.

* Barnes-Kasson County Hospital, 120 miles northwest of New York City, is a client of American Health Tech, a subsidiary of electronic health records vendor CPSI. Barnes-Kasson is returning to AHT to put an EHR into a cloud-hosted environment for its skilled nursing facility. The hosted records system will support acute, ambulatory and post-acute care settings. American Health Tech has previously helped the organization meet increasing government regulations, which played a role in the company getting the new business, says Michelle Taylor, administrator for the nursing facility.

* Health Share of Oregon, the largest coordinated care organization serving Medicaid members, is an existing user of the enterprise data warehouse of Health Catalyst. Now, Health Share is expanding its relationship with the vendor and adding the Data Operating System platform that includes data warehousing, clinical data repositories and health information exchanges to simplify secure sharing, analytics and availability of information from multiple data systems. Health Share also is implementing the vendor’s behavioral health software and co-developed a risk tool for opioid prescribing that calculates a member’s risk of opioid addiction and overdose.

* University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is buying new pharmacy management products from Omnicell. UPMC is adding the XR2 Automated Central Pharmacy System, IVX Workflow sterile compounding software and the i.v.STATION for non-hazardous robotic compounding to pharmacy operations at flagship hospitals UPMC Presbyterian and UPMC Shadyside.

* Horizon Health Network in New Brunswick, Canada, has been an Allscripts client for more than two decades and now has extended its contract through 2024 as it furthers clinical enhancements to its electronic health records software to enhance the care experience of patients. Horizon Health operates 12 hospitals and has more than 100 ancillary medical facilities. The Allscripts Sunrise EHR offers a highly flexible platform to meet Horizon’s strategic plan, says Jennifer Sheils, CIO at Horizon.
