The Healthcare Information Xchange of New York, which serves 17 northern counties, has selected the HealthShare software of InterSystems Corp. for its core health information exchange platform.

Clifton Park-based HIXNY, like other health information exchanges and regional health organizations in New York, receives substantial funding assistance from the state government. HIXNY in October introduced free electronic prescribing software for member physicians.

Now, Cambridge, Mass.-based InterSystems expects to implement HealthShare during the first quarter of 2010 with access to laboratory results as its first service. Forthcoming functions will include diagnostic imaging reports, progress notes and discharge summaries.
