Upstate NY Health System Links to HIE
Cooperstown, N.Y.-based Bassett Healthcare Network has joined Hixny, the Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) serving more than 1.6 million customers in the Greater Capital Region and northern New York.
Cooperstown, N.Y.-based Bassett Healthcare Network has joined Hixny, the Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) serving more than 1.6 million customers in the Greater Capital Region and northern New York.
With this newest connection, all six hospitals in the Bassett Healthcare Network, along with the networks home care agency will be connected with Hixnys HIE. This represents secure electronic health records for more than 700,000 office visits, on average, each year in the eight-county area the Bassett Healthcare Network serves. As a result, the EHRs can be safely and securely shared, with patient consent, within the HIE.
Bassett Healthcare Network provides care and services to people living in a 5,600 square-mile region in upstate New York. The organization includes six corporately affiliated hospitals, as well as skilled nursing facilities, health centers and health partners in related fields.
Hixny is one of 10 non-profit RHIOs in New York. All RHIOs in the state will be connecting to the Statewide Health Information NetworkNew York (SHIN-NY). When these connections are complete, all New Yorkers will be able, with patient consent, to securely share electronic records throughout the state.
