University of Louisville picks Conifer to revamp revenue cycle

Here is Health Data Management’s weekly roundup of new health IT contracts and go-lives.

* University of Louisville Hospital in Kentucky and the James Graham Brown Center will implement the revenue cycle suite of software from Conifer Health Solutions. Included in the package are modules to manage patient access and payment, enrollment and eligibility, clinical documentation improvement, health information management and accounts receivables management.



* Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston has bought software from start-up vendor The Right Place to match and discharge patients to post-acute care facilities. The goal is to streamline communications, reduce interruptions to case managers’ workflow and improve processes for placing patients. Beth Israel now is out of the pilot stage and using the software to discharge patients to the appropriate skilled nursing facility, which could be anywhere in the nation. The software gives real-time data on variables such as how facilities respond to patient referrals, which facilities are offering beds, how many patients are accepted, length of stay, quality of care assessment and costs, among other factors.

* Central California Alliance for Health, an insurer serving Medi-Cal managed care members in Santa Cruz, Monterey and Merced counties, will use a cloud-based platform from AristaMD to support telemedicine consultations enabling primary care physicians to access specialists. The consultations can be done in physicians’ own practices with their patients. The AristaMD platform offers more than 200 evidence-based clinical work-up checklists with a nation panel of specialists covering 35 areas of care, along with analytics to optimize care collaboration.

* ConvenientMD, an urgent care chain with nine sites in New Hampshire and throughout New England, has chosen FirstLight for a fiber-optic infrastructure that includes Internet, IT infrastructure, security, cloud and Voice over IP services. FirstLight is locally based, enabling access to the vendor’s data center when needed, says George Murray, IT manager at ConvenientMD.

* Cow Creek Health & Wellness Center, an Oregon Indian Health Service clinic, will replace an aged government-provided resource and patient management system with the electronic health record and practice management system of Greenway Health. The software is specifically designed for Tribal Health communities to optimize care documentation, interoperate with other systems and report patient data to the federal government. Cow Creek, with 10 providers in rural central Oregon, also is putting in the vendor’s revenue cycle, care coordination and chronic care management modules.
