New contract signings that health information technology vendors announced during the week of November 16-20 include UC San Diego Health, Gifford Medical Center in Vermont and VA Loma Linda Hospital.
*UC San Diego Health has bought Merge Healthcare’s iConnect Access software to view images within the electronic health records software and a vendor-neutral archive called iConnect Enterprise Archive. Together, the products enable clinicians to access current and historical images at the point of care using a standard Internet browser.
*Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, Vt., will implement the emergency department information system of MEDHOST. One goal for the critical access hospital that also has a string of federally qualified health centers is to improve data abstraction capabilities to analyze performance of the ED department.
*The Veterans Affairs Loma Linda Healthcare System is live on patient engagement software from Allen Technologies. Using hospital room televisions, patients have access to a portal to get information on their medical condition and treatment, request certain services and have access to entertainment.
*Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Md., signed up for the InnerTrack supply management software from Jump Technologies to improve receiving dock productivity and build an electronic audit trail for all packages received and delivered throughout the organization. The software works on an iPhone, iPad or iPod and integrates with major delivery carriers.
*TeamPraxis, the largest managed services organization for physician practices in Hawaii, will use a suite of software from Athenahealth that includes electronic health records, revenue cycle management and population health management applications, serving 560 physicians across about 250 practices.
