Here are the new contract signings that health information technology vendors announced during the week of October 26 to 30:

*Sleepy Eye Medical Center, a 16-bed critical access hospital operated by the city of Sleepy Eye, Minn., has contracted with Sisu Healthcare IT Solutions for help in upgrading to the Meditech 6.1x electronic health record system. The vendor will host the system and also may deliver such services as clinical, technical and financial analyst support, meaningful use advisory services, interoperability and wide area network services. Thriveon Information & Technology, a local vendor, will work with Sisu.

*Emerson Hospital, a 179-bed facility in Concord, Mass., will use charge capture software from MedAptus to support clinicians on rounds at the hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospitals. Emerson Hospital is replacing existing charge capture software with a more robust product.

*Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Va., has contracted with Sagacious Consultants for a range of services to improve revenue cycle functions. The goal is to increase patient financial clearance, reduce uncollectable debt and increase insurance reimbursements.

*Trinity Health System in Steubenville, Ohio, is replacing existing email encryption software with the automated email encryption product of Zix Corporation. About 2,000 employees will use the product. The previous software required several steps to actually encrypt an email.

*Dialysis Clinic Inc. in Nashville, Tenn., will use the electronic health records/practice management software of eClinicalWorks at nine physician practices. The clinic expects the move will improve analysis of clinician data and support health information exchange and continuity of care efforts.

*Catholic Health Initiatives will implement Allscripts’ FollowMyHealth patient engagement platform for 1,500 providers using the vendor’s TouchWorks electronic health record system.
