Supply Chain Vendor to Buy Vocollect

Intermec Technologies Corp., a vendor of software and hand-held computing devices for managing supply chain assets and information, will acquire Vocollect Inc., which sells voice communications systems for supply management across multiple industries, including a clinical documentation system for skilled nursing facilities.


Intermec Technologies Corp., a vendor of software and hand-held computing devices for managing supply chain assets and information, will acquire Vocollect Inc., which sells voice communications systems for supply management across multiple industries, including a clinical documentation system for skilled nursing facilities.

The transaction is valued at $190 million and is expected to close during the first quarter of 2011. Pittsburgh-based Vocollect sells the AccuNurse voice-based communication system for nurses and other caregivers. The company had 2010 revenue of nearly $120 million.

Integrated with various information systems and using speech recognition software, AccuNurse enables users to use headsets to verbally receive worklists, document task completion and communicate with co-workers.
