U.S. Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas), National Coordinator for Health Information Technology Farzad Mostashari, M.D., and University of Cambridge (UK) security professor Ross Anderson are the keynote speakers for the Second International Summit on the Future of Health Privacy, June 6-7 in Washington.

The summit is free, but with limited space and registration is open. Consumer advocacy group Patient Privacy Rights and Georgetown University’s O’Neill Institute on Global and Health Law sponsor the event. The sponsors will honor Rep. Barton for pushing the privacy and security enhancements in the HITECH Act through the House of Representatives.

Summit sessions will cover U.S. and international policies governing health information privacy, including the White House’s recently proposed Consumer Bill of Privacy Rights.
