Bonney Lake (Wash.) Medical Center has notified 2,370 patients that stolen computer equipment contained protected health information, including Social Security numbers.

The equipment, which included password-protected computers and a server, also housed patient names, addresses, and insurance and medical information. The hospital in a statement said there have been no reports indicating misuse of the information.

The hospital was burglarized on August 12, 2011, and patient notification letters were mailed on Sept. 9. Bonney Lake Medical Center contracted with ID Experts for remediation services including notifying patients and offering one paid year of identity protection and fraud resolution services, including insurance reimbursement for covered expenses, if necessary.
