Siemens Healthcare and oncology vendor Varian Medical Systems will sell certain products of the other under a new global marketing partnership.
The companies will develop numerous interfaces between their products and investigate opportunities for jointly developing new products for image-guided radiotherapy and radiosurgery.
On the marketing side, Varian will sell Siemens’ diagnostic imaging products, including CT, PET/CT and MRI, to radiation oncology clinics. Siemens will sell Varian equipment and software for radiotherapy and radiosurgery.
Siemens will continue to support its global installed base of about 2,000 medical linear accelerators, but will offer Varian equipment as accelerators reach replacement age. And, interfaces will connect Varian’s ARIA oncology information system with Siemens’ accelerators and imaging systems.
