Siemens Healthineers, AMRA partner on body analysis tool

Cloud-based composition assessment tool can depict volume, distribute of fat and muscles.

The body composition analysis of AMRA, a records management vendor, will be incorporated into the digital tools available to clinicians using imaging devices from Siemens Healthineers, according to a recently announced partnership between the vendors.

The companies made the announcement at the HIMSS18 conference and exhibition in Las Vegas on Monday, March 5.

Under the agreement, AMRA’s cloud-based body composition analysis solution will be integrated into Healthineers’ Digital Ecosystem, an open and secured environment that enables participating organizations to make use of a variety of add-on applications.

The companies say AMRA’s solution uses imaging technology to more accurately represent body composition, such as body-mass index measurements, and it can give healthcare providers “an additional layer of analytics to predict and prevent disease,”

The AMRA technology can transform images from a six-minute whole body MRI scan into three dimensional volumetric fat and muscle measurements, enabling a more accurate and precise way to assess volume and distribution of fat and muscles, as well as metabolic status.

Siemens Healthineers says about 2,000 institutions from nearly 50 countries participate in its Digital Ecosystem platform.

“The spectrum of members' data, capabilities, digital offerings and access points to the Digital Ecosystem keeps growing and allows healthcare providers worldwide to harness the power of healthcare going digital,” says Alexander Lippert, head of the digital ecosystem initiative at Siemens Healthineers. “The goal is to help customers deliver value based care with better outcomes at lower costs.”
