Health Sciences South Carolina, a collaborative of universities and delivery systems, will use health information exchange software from Halfpenny Technologies to exchange lab data.

The collaborative is working with the Center for Information Technology Implementation Assistance in South Carolina--the state's regional extension center--to develop a "lab hub" to ease physician compliance with electronic health records meaningful use criteria. Laboratory Corporation of America and Solstas Lab Partners also are participants.

Health Sciences South Carolina members include Clemson University, Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center, Medical University of South Carolina, Palmetto Health, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System and University of South Carolina. More information is available at
