Rural Health Grants Include Telemedicine

The Department of Health and Human Services has awarded $32 million in grants for 82 projects to increase health care access in rural communities, including two grant programs totaling more than $3 million for telemedicine programs.


The Department of Health and Human Services has awarded $32 million in grants for 82 projects to increase health care access in rural communities, including two grant programs totaling more than $3 million for telemedicine programs.

 

The grants, paid out of fiscal year 2010 funds, come from the Office of Rural Health Policy in HHS' Health Resources and Services Administration. Eight Telehealth Network Grant Program awards average about $255,000 apiece and four Telehealth Resource Center Grant Program awards average about $325,000.
