A new report from vendor research firm KLAS Enterprises finds smaller community hospitals are considering vendors that traditionally cater to larger facilities more often then they are considering traditional community vendors.

That means the hospitals currently are looking at Meditech, Cerner, McKesson Paragon and Epic more often than CPSI, Healthland, HMS, Keane and Siemens MedSeries4, according to Orem, Utah-based KLAS. Meditech remains the most considered vendor in the community hospital market but Cerner and McKesson Paragon are getting interest, along with Epic to a lesser extent.

Three vendors, Meditech, Cerner and Epic, receive frequent consideration from hospitals of all sizes, according to the report, "CIS Perception 2010: Vendors Bridge the Size Gap." It is available for purchase, at $980 for providers and $9,850 for others, at klasresearch.com/reports.
