QSI/NextGen Buys an ED Vendor

Quality Systems Inc., owner of NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, has acquired The Poseidon Group, which sells emergency department information systems. Terms were not disclosed.


Quality Systems Inc., owner of NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, has acquired The Poseidon Group, which sells emergency department information systems. Terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition further rounds out QSII’s suite of hospital products since it entered the small hospital market in mid-2009.

QSII has bought Sphere Health Systems, which sells an inpatient financial/administrative hospital information system, Opus Healthcare Solutions, a vendor of inpatient clinical information systems, and CQI Solutions, which sells surgery information systems.

Poseidon serves EDs with annual volume of 5,000 to 125,000 patients. COO Carl Scott and CTO Kyle Taylor will assume senior positions in NextGen. Jeff Oyler, president and founder of Poseidon, will serve in a consulting role.
